Vieilles Vignes 2018 - Rémi Poujol - Vin de France
Is a cuvée made from old black carignan vines grown exclusively in biodynamic agriculture in Adissan in the Hérault. Rémi determines the date of his harvest according to the phenolic ripeness of the grape, when the seeds are brown and have a little almond taste.
The vinification is done naturally without any input, in stainless steel and fibreglass vats. The wine is then aged for 18 months in old tuns.
This cuvée Vieilles Vignes has a light, fine and concentrated texture with black cherry, fig, a touch of fresh raspberry and spices. It is best served with a nice piece of grilled beef, game, and for the less meaty, with vegetable curry.
Mas Costefere - Rémi Poujol in Adissan (34)
Following in his father's footsteps, Rémi Poujol took over the estate, ideally situated in Adissan in the Hérault region, where volcanic and villafranchian soils and a Mediterranean climate are the major assets of its free-range juices.
He converted the property to organic farming, helped by his mare and a few other maned friends, and applied several biodynamic practices.
It is therefore natural that he reduced the surface of his vineyard to 5 ha in order to be more efficient and closer to the natural needs of the vines.
Including some Grenache massales from Château Rayas, its vineyard is composed of Ugni Blanc, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Mourvèdre and superb 102 year old Carignans.
Its strength, an entirely natural vinification, without sulphur and without any input or filtration; giving fine, fresh and impactful juices.
