Le Murmure de l'Eau 2021 d'Etienne Seignovert

is an assembly of 75% of Jacquere grown in Savoie on clay-limestone soils and Marsanne planted on decomposed granite. The 2 grape varieties are vinified and aged2/3 in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 1/3 in 228L barrels from 2010, separately then blended 1 month before bottling.

A very small dose of SO2 was added to the Jacquère when it left Savoie to ensure that it was properly transported to the Ardèche, and a small dose was added at bottling, and that's it!

The nose of the Murmur of Water is intoxicating with its notes of flowers and white fruitsYou don't want to take your nostrils off the glass! The tasting is just as pleasant with a wine of a great flexibilitys, the exotic fruitsMany of the freshness and a pretty salinity.

Le Murmure de l'Eau echoes a childhood memory of Etienne's when he used to go swimming in the Doux, the river that runs through the valley where he grew up. The murmur of the water, an immersion in the white water on a summer afternoon. Swimming in the current, lulled by the sound of the torrent sliding between the rocks.

Etienne Seignovert in Saint-Barthélémy-le-Plain (07)

The Etienne Seignovert estate was born at the beginning of 2020, and is built around vines taken over on lease, new plantations and a small business between friends who are also young winemakers.

The aim of the estate is to recreate an old-fashioned Ardèche farm by combining polyculture and agroforestry to maximise the symbiosis between fauna and flora and hope to recover a natural balance in terms of biodiversity.

The vineyard is located only on the Northern exhibitions of the Doux valleyThe vineyards are located at an altitude of between 400 and 500 metres. The aim, through the influence of the plateaus and these less sunny exposures, is to produce wines aerialon the freshness and the finesse.

For the cultivation of vines, the objective is toengage the most biodiversity possible in order to find a natural balancewhere fauna and flora work together.

Once manually harvested the grapes arrive in the cellar in small 18kg boxes, from then on, all the manipulations carried out on the grapes, the must and the wines will aim to reflect the terroir where the grapes are grown.

The guiding principle behind the cellar choices is to obtain airy wines that convey the expression of their parcels. Nothing but grapesand low doses of So2 depending on the wines and conditions. All wines are not glued not filtered.

The labels have their own story too! Etienne wanted to convey his passion for the world of fantasy and Japanese animation in his labels. So he met Marc and Norent, two artists, and after a week spent at the farm to immerse themselves in the wines, Etienne's universe and the energy of the place, combining tasting, walks in the Ardèche and local specialities, they created these pretty labels together.
