The Martina is a cuvée made from organic Barbera grapes facing south, they are harvested by hand and then sent for alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then malolactic fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine will remain in these same vats for 18 months before bottling.
The Martina reveals pretty notes of fresh red fruit cherries, the mouth is also on red fruits, greedy and fresh with very supple tannins.
The Crotin 1897 estate is located a few kilometres from Asti in the commune of Maretto, on the heights of Monferrato in Piedmont. All the vines are cultivated in certified organic agriculture, the only treatments allowed are copper and sulphur based, so clearly no weeding and no chemical fertilization, the fertility of the soil is guaranteed by green manure and manure from their sheep.
In the winery, Corrado and Christian use only indigenous yeasts and very low sulphur dioxide dosages, and intervene as little as possible to allow each wine to find its own identity in a natural way while preserving the characteristics of the grapes as much as possible.
