La Friponne 2021 du Domaine Pierre Chauvin

is a cuvée made from Grolleau Noir, the emblematic grape variety of the Anjou region, even if it is most often found in rosés. It is harvested by hand, destemmed and then put into maceration for 8 to 10 days, before being matured in stainless steel vats for 6 months to preserve all the freshness and fruit of the grapes. No inputs or sulphites are added to this cuvée, neither during the vinification nor at bottling.

La Friponne is what we would call a "glouglou" red wine, that is to say, very light and all about the fruit, although somewhat enhanced by peppery notes.

It is a wine that needs no apology or accompaniment to be enjoyed properly, it can be enjoyed on its own, during an aperitif or on a barbecue. In summer, it can even be drunk slightly chilled, it is so easy to drink that the bottle never stays full for very long...

Paul-Eric Chauvin in Rablay-sur-Layon (49)

The Domaine Pierre Chauvin is located in Anjou, in the commune of Rablay-sur-Layon (Maine-et-Loire department), and is now run by Paul-Eric Chauvin, representing the fifth successive generation, accompanied by his brother-in-law Philippe Cesbron. Chenin, Cabernet Franc and Grolleau Noir are the grape varieties grown on the estate, which has been entirely organic since 2005.

The wines of Domaine Pierre Chauvin are vinified as naturally as possible, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no oenological correction products, no chaptalization, and with a minimal use of sulfites.
