Crémant d'Alsace 2018 from Domaine Gross is made from 80% of Pinot Auxerrois and 20% of Riesling from silty terroirs and aged according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are harvested by hand, pressed for 10 hours and then aged on total lees for 8 months plus 15 months on slats. The wine is then bottled after disgorging without fining or filtration.
Crémant d'Alsace 2018 reveals medium bubbles, floral and ripe fruit notes. The palate is frank and very fresh without being greedy.
A very nice crémant that can be enjoyed as much at the beginning as at the end of a meal, or during a dinner aperitif.
Domaine Gross is located in the heart of Alsace, a few kilometres from Colmar, in the commune of Gueberschwihr. It is a family estate, taken over in 1980 by Rémy and Vincent from their parents. It is in a family spirit that Rémy and Vincent cultivate today the 10 hectares of vineyard managed in biodynamics.
The Crémant d'Alsace Extra-Brut 2018 is a blend of 80% Pinot Auxerrois and 20% Riesling grapes grown in biodynamic agriculture and coming from a silty soil of Loess, at the bottom of the hillsides. The grapes are hand-picked and pressed for 10 hours before being aged for 8 months on lees and then 15 months on slats. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.
This Crémant d'Alsace Extra-Brut with medium bubbles develops floral and ripe fruit aromas, the mouth is lively and frank with an acidity that brings a nice freshness.
