Blanc d'Argile is one of Hélène and Bertrand Gautherot's Blanc de Blancs Champagnes, made from young Chardonnay vines with very low yields, growing on clay soil (which explains the name of the cuvée). The grapes are harvested by hand, vinified and aged for a long time in oak barrels without any dosage, fining or filtration. A clean Champagne!
Each bottle of Blanc d'Argile is a slap in the face, it's like tasting a Chablis with bubbles, so rich, opulent, mineral, but with finesse. It's not easy to get it, you quickly remember why, so precise is Bertrand's work.
It is advised to air it at least half an hour before, and even to decant it, yes yes we decant the Champagne too! You can admire the vivacity of the bubbles and its golden yellow colour.
Vouette & Sorbée is not the name of two winegrowers, but that of two parcels of vines. The winegrowers are Hélène and Bertrand Gautherot, who are no longer present among Champagne connoisseurs. Located in Buxière sur Arce, south of Troyes in the Aube, they are the pioneers of biodynamic agriculture in the region. They have at heart to nourish their land in order to find in their wines the expression of the Champagne terroir.
