Bee Bine is not a wine but a mead, and the very first of our range could only come from Henri. He took up the challenge because he had drunk a very bad one at a friend's house, and he thought that he should try to make one himself, too, but well.
Not having a beehive at the time, he bought organic rapeseed honey from a neighbouring beekeeper and bramble honey and that's how he created his mead. For his next mead, the honey will come from his hives implanted in the heart of his vineyards, we can't wait to taste it!
In 2000, Henri Duporge took over the family winery and created Château Le Geai. Located in Bayas, north of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, Château Le Geai covers 18 hectares of vineyard, run under Organic and Biodynamic Agriculture. A great enthusiast, he does all the work in the vineyard, the vinification and the winemaking himself. He is widely committed to respecting the environment, no natural chemicals or insecticides are used. The vines and the land are cultivated with the greatest respect for organic farming. A superficial working of the soil is carried out, according to the rules of biodynamics. The vinification has always been natural (indigenous yeasts). Sulphur-free is the rule that dominates all transformation of the grapes into wine, afterwards some wines will be sulphited or not. The sulfite used remains natural (volcanic sulfur). No fining or filtration.
