A century-old property, Château Beynat is now in the hands of Alain Tourenne, a passionate winegrower committed to respecting the environment. Château Beynat is located in Sainte Magne de Castillon, and covers 14 hectares of biodynamic vineyards. Alain does not stop at traditional viticultural and wine-making practices, he is constantly thinking about creating new processes and new potions, each one crazier than the last, and each time it works, earning him the nickname of "Vigneron Magicien".

The Cuvée des Lyres refers to a very specific parcel of clay-silica soil where the Merlot vines planted in 1975 are pruned in the shape of a V (as shown on the label). The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted using an innovative system created by Alain, the FLOTATRI, which allows sorting by density. The wine is then vinified in whole berries without the addition of sulphur, with punching down and vatting for 30 days. The wine is then aged for 12 to 14 months in jars.

Here we find all the purity of Merlot with its aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and violets enhanced by hints of spice and nutmeg. On the palate, this wine is generous and racy with all those cooked fruits that envelop the palate and a touch of liquorice that remains on the finish.

After a few years in the cellar, this wine will reveal all its beauty with racy game dishes, for example. For the more impatient, it should be decanted a few hours in advance.
